Even though Poland is a global success story (Kraków is in the top 10 global locations for outsourcing, our IT developers win international programming contests and Poland advances up the global competitiveness index), we cannot say that we operate in a legal framework that is entirely business friendly.
The offshoring sector’s main exposure to the Polish regulatory system is through Labour Law governing relations between companies and their employees – a codex that can seem overly bureaucratic, unfriendly to the employer and out of line with global standards.
Taking as a starting point, areas identified by ASPIRE members as being of urgent concern, this workshop will explore:
- How Polish Labour Law compares to regulations in other European countries
- The process and the barriers to changing regulations
- Case study of case of efforts to update regulations on employee and candidate background checks (“vetting”)
- Does Polish Labour Law threaten Poland’s competitiveness in attracting offshoring jobs?
