Magdalena Polan is a Senior European Economist and Executive Director within the CEEMEA economics team in the Global Investment Research division. She joined the firm in December 2009, and her primary focus is on the Hungarian, Polish and Czech economies, as well as regional issues related to Central Europe. Before joining Goldman Sachs, she spent six years in the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC, where she worked on various issues related to economic policy in emerging market countries, including public financial management, crisis prevention and resolution, and sovereign debt restructurings. Prior to joining the Fund, she was a research and teaching assistant in the University of Leuven, where her research agenda covered monetary policy, European monetary integration and globalization. She holds degrees in economics from the University of Leuven and Warsaw University, and also studied political science.
